Workshop II

Goal
This workshop invites experts to brainstorm socio-technical infrastructures that address the needs and challenges identified in Workshop I. It will bring together about 20 leading experts in database research and digital libraries, cyberinfrastructure/ e-Science design, and social science of CI from the U.S. but also from Asia and Europe.

The goal is to identify:

that address the needs identified in Workshop I without duplicating existing efforts in a sustainable fashion.

This is a 1 ½ day workshop. Given the diverse backgrounds of the attendees and the goals of the workshop, we will use the first ½ day for brief self introductions of the participants followed by an overview of the goals of the workshop and associated challenges and opportunities as identified by the organizers and extracted from the PR^2 submitted by the workshop participants. A shared dinner follows. The following full day features brainstorming and discussion sessions in different team sizes.

The workshop takes place at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens New York City (about 10 miles east of Downtown Manhattan).

FROM LAGUADIA AIRPORT
Grand Central Parkway eastbound to Exit 10, bearing right to follow the Midtown Tunnel signage. Right on Corona Avenue. Right on 111th Street. Right at 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.

FROM KENNEDY AIRPORT
Airport Exit (JFK Expressway to I-678 N/ Van Wyck Expressway. Merge onto Grand Central Parkway West via Exit 10 toward La Guardia Airport/ Triboro Bridge. Exit 10W at I-495/ Long Island Expressway Toward Midtown Tunnel. Stay on Service Road. Turn Right at 108th Street. Right on 52nd Avenue to 111th Street. Left on 111th Street. Right at 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.
